The SBU reported suspicions to the former head of the Yelenovskaya colony, who was involved in the torture of more than 100 Ukrainian soldiers. In order to torture the victims, they were taken to a “disciplinary isolation cell” specially created on the territory of the colony.

“The security service has collected an evidence base on the former head of the occupying Volnovakha correctional colony (better known as the Yelenovskaya colony). The attacker is involved in mass abuse of Ukrainian prisoners of war in a Russian torture prison,” the report says.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, often the abuse of prisoners of war began immediately upon the arrival of the prisoner in the place of detention.

The ex-head of the colony in Yelenovka was suspected of torturing more than 100 Ukrainian soldiers (t.me/pgo_gov_ua)

In particular, from the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation until the end of July 2022, he organized the torture of more than 100 captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“In his torture chamber, people were subjected to various types of physical violence and psychological pressure, accompanied by constant threats of” slow “murder,” the SBU added.

It is known that in order to “escort” people to the torture chamber, the defendant involved his subordinate – the “junior inspector of the supervision department” of the occupational prison, who also participated in the torture of prisoners of war.

According to the investigation, the former head of the occupational colony turned out to be a local resident, who until 2014 was the head of the search sector in the Horlivka regional department of the disbanded police in Donetsk region.

During the capture of part of the region, he remained in the city and then went to cooperate with the local occupation administration of the Russian Federation. At the beginning of 2022, the attacker became the head of the Yelenovskaya colony created by the aggressor and stayed in this position until the end of July.

In addition, it was established that before his “appointment” his subordinate was part of the so-called “penal service” of the “DPR” terrorist organization in the temporarily occupied Gorlovka.

On the basis of the evidence collected, the investigators of the Security Service informed both defendants of suspicion under part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (ill-treatment of prisoners of war committed by a group of persons upon prior agreement).

Since both perpetrators are hiding from justice in the temporarily occupied territory in eastern Ukraine, comprehensive measures are ongoing to bring them to justice.

What is known about the ex-head of the colony in Yelenovka

Judging by the information of the Russian media, the head of the colony in Yelenovka was Sergey Evsyukov. Last year, the Russian “Medusa” wrote this colony. In particular, journalists, citing volunteer Stanislav Glushkov, spoke about Evsyukov’s sadistic inclinations.

According to him, the head of the colony, Sergei Evsyukov, “obviously has sadistic inclinations.”

“Evsyukov Sergey Vladimirovich, in my personal opinion, is one of the worst executioners who manages this entire camp, who has repeatedly told us that we will stay there for at least 10 years, that our children, our families will be told that we flew into space, or that we are military pilots who died,”  Glushkov said at the time.

Russia deliberately attacked a colony in the village of Yelenovka in the Donetsk region in July 2022, where Ukrainian prisoners were being held at that moment, which led to numerous casualties. It is known about the death of about 50 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine taken prisoner.

In particular, the occupiers planned in advance to kill the prisoners, since they were subsequently transferred to the shelled hut a few days before the shelling.
