Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar claims that the Ukrainian military liberated the village of Urozhainoye in the Donetsk region.
“Harvest freed. Our defenders are fixed on the lines. Offensive operations continue, ” Malyar wrote in a telegram, without giving other details.
The day before, the telegram channel Rybar, associated with the Russian Ministry of Defense , wrote that “after the withdrawal of Russian troops from Urozhaynoye, the village moved into the gray zone.” According to the channel, the Armed Forces of Ukraine maintain “confident control” in the north of the village, and in the south “they are trying to dig in, but they are being hit by artillery and aircraft.” The telegram channel of the Russian battalion “Vostok” reported on the morning of August 15 about the loss of Urozhaynoye.
On August 14, Malyar said that the Ukrainian military had “certain success” in the village of Urozhayne.
In the village of Urozhaynoye, Donetsk region, there was a fortified area of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the banks of the Wet Yaly River. The Ukrainian military launched an assault on Urozhayne on August 8. As The New York Times wrote , the liberation of the village by the Ukrainian military could force Russian troops to withdraw south, towards Staromlynovka, to the second line of defense. The publication noted that if the Armed Forces of Ukraine can break through Urozhaynoye, they will be 80 kilometers from Berdyansk and Mariupol near the Sea of Azov, which are captured by Russian troops.
