The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan and the World Health Organization have signed a 7-year Country Cooperation Strategy until 2030.
The signing ceremony was attended by WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge, WHO Representative in Kyrgyzstan Liviu Vedrasco and Minister of Health of Alymkadyr Beishenaliev.
During the ceremony, the priorities of the new strategy, the latest achievements of Kyrgyzstan in the health sector and further steps to strengthen cooperation between WHO and Kyrgyzstan were discussed.
The strategy consists of 3 strategic directions and 7 priority areas.
A particular attention will be paid to cardiovascular diseases, mental health, emergency response, antimicrobial resistance, environmental health and chemical safety, attracting specialists to rural areas, and data digitalization issues.
The strategy also places emphasis on strengthening primary health care and improving access to health services in areas such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, immunization and maternal, newborn and child health.
The given strategy will be synchronized with the National Health Development Program until 2030 “A Healthy Person – a Prosperous Country”.
The signed cooperation strategy is innovative. It will not only strengthen work on health care and well-being in Kyrgyzstan in 7 key areas during the next 7 years, but demonstrates the role of the country beyond its borders in advancement of the initiatives, including the mountain program with focus on health care, Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer, Subregional Diplomacy in the framework of the Roadmap for Health and Well-Being in Central Asia for 2022-2025, WHO Regional Director Hans Kluge said.
Health Minister Beishenaliev said signing of the given strategy will play an important role in development of the national health care system.
