The First May District Court of Bishkek fully acquitted activist Yrys Jekshenaliev and removed all the charges against him. This decision was made by judge Mirbek Satarbek uulu.
At the court hearing on November 16, the prosecutor asked to sentence him to seven years in prison.
Irys Jekshenaliev and his lawyer denied all the charges and asked the court to acquit him.
Yrys Jekshenaliev was arrested in August last year after publishing an old video on the “Polit Uznik” page of the former chairman of the State Committee for National Security (SSC) Abdil Segizbaev about Jetim-Too. He spent two months in the pretrial detention center and was released under house arrest.
A criminal case was initiated against the activist under the section of the Criminal Code “Unrest” article “Calls to disobey the legal requirements of the authorities and mass riots, as well as calls to violence against citizens”.
