Glaciers are vanishing in Issyk-Kul region, Director of National Academy of Sciences Kanat Abdrakhmatov said.
The scholar shared the photo of Jerooy glacier, which is to the south of Temir-Kanat village in Ton district of Issyk-Kul region.
From 1962 to 2003, the length of the glacier reduced by 450 meters.
“If the situation does not stop, the glacier will vanish in the next 20-30 years. The same is happening with other glaciers in the mountains surrounding Issyk-Kul and in Tien Shan range,” Kanat Abdrakhmatov said.
