AKIPRESS.COM – The rally in suupport of the activists, bloggers and politicians, who opposed transfer of the Kempir-Abad water reservoir to Uzbekistan, and still remain in custody was held in front of the Ministry of Internal Afffairs today in Bishkek.
More than 50 rally participants demanded to release the activists, who were detained on suspicion of preparation of mass disorders earlier.
Representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs met with protesters and shared the details of the course of investigation.
Protesters were then informed that rallies and assemblies in central parts of Bishkek are prohibited. They suggested that activists should hold their action in Maxim Gorky Park.
Protesters headed to the old square with posters and slogans, where they were dispersed by police. 27 protesters were taken to the Pervomaiskiy district police station.
The Interior Ministry said the action participants were repeatedly informed that their actions at the old square are illegal.
“However, citizens did not obey the lawful demands of the police officers and continued movement to the square,” the Interior Ministry’s press service said.
26 activists, bloggers and politicians were detained in early December on suspicion of preparation of mass disorders. 24 of them are kept in custody and 2 were placed under house arrest.
