President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with the BBC that he would not make territorial concessions. According to him, a compromise on the status of Donbass, Crimea and the southern territories will be a “bomb in the center of Europe.”
“We are going to Europe, Ukraine has chosen this path. All this cannot be lost. Ukraine wants security guarantees, we all want it – we are united. Therefore, any territorial compromises will only weaken our state,” the President of Ukraine said.
He also rejected the opportunity to compromise with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“The question is not in the word “compromise”. Why be afraid of him? We have a million compromises in life. They happen every day. The question is with whom. Compromise with Putin? No! Why? Because there is no faith,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a plan to resolve the conflict, one of the conditions of which is the return of the territorial integrity of Ukraine within the 1991 borders. However, Moscow insists on recognizing the annexed regions as Russian.
At the same time, Mr. Zelensky also repeatedly said that he did not understand with which of the representatives of the Russian authorities to conduct a dialogue. According to his decree, Ukraine will not negotiate with Russia as long as Vladimir Putin remains its president.
