The revenue of Ukrainian pipe exporters increased by 47.6% m/m for the month.
According to the results of February 2023, pipe companies of Ukraine increased their exports of products by 57.4% compared to January 2023 – up to 32.71 thousand tons. Revenue from pipe exports increased by 47.6% mom for the month. – up to $61.48 million. This is evidenced by the data of the State Customs Service.
Compared to February 2022, in February 2023, the metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine increased their revenue from the sale of pipes by 5.7%. The difference in export volumes in physical volume cannot be calculated due to lack of data.
In January-February 2023, Ukraine exported 53.49 thousand tons of pipes worth $103.1 million. Revenue from product sales abroad decreased by 24.7% compared to the same period last year.
Most of all, in January-February 2023, Ukraine exported seamless pipes, tubes and hollow profiles (UKTVED 7304) – 43.27 thousand tons for $94.51 million. In February, 27.1 thousand tons of such products were shipped (+67.6 % m/m) by $56.8 million (+50.9% m/m).
Also, in January-February, 9.89 thousand tons of other pipes, tubes and hollow profiles made of ferrous metals (UKTVED 7306) were shipped abroad for $8.31 million, including 5.4 thousand tons in February (+21% m ./m) by $4.48 million (+17.1% m/m).
The main consumers of Ukrainian pipes are Germany, USA, Italy and Poland.
As GMK Center reported, in 2022, Ukrainian pipe companies produced 608 thousand tons of pipes , which is 38% less compared to 2021. Last year, the enterprises of the Ukrtrubprom association reduced the output of pipe products by 37.9% y/y. – up to 449.7 thousand tons.
The performance of the industry was affected by logistical problems, as well as strikes on energy infrastructure facilities and, as a result, the restriction of electricity supplies at the end of last year. As a result, pipe companies exported products through western border crossings and European seaports. This led to a 2-3 times increase in logistics costs and affected the cost of pipe products.
As a result, exports of pipes from Ukraine decreased by 33.6% year-on-year in 2022, to 400.4 thousand tons. In monetary terms, exports for the specified period amounted to $688.5 million, which is 10.1% less than in 2021.
The main pipe manufacturers in Ukraine are Interpipe NIKO TUBE LLC, Interpipe NTRP, DMZ Kominmet, MMK im. Ilyich, Interpipe NMTZ, Trubostal, Centravis, Dneprovsky Pipe Plant, Slavsant.
