According to the Estonian Defense Forces, Russia is able to make up for its human losses in Ukraine through new recruitment, so it will be able to continue the war at the same pace for a long time.

This was stated on Friday by the head of the intelligence center of the Defense Forces, Colonel Margo Grosberg.

While Russia is not doing as well with reserves as Ukrainians, he said, it will be able to bring in about 190,000 additional troops as part of the recruitment announced on April 1 for the armed forces.

The Russian leadership set itself the goal of recruiting 400,000 people into the army, but even half of this number would be enough for the losses suffered so far. Grosberg noted that Estonia estimates that Russia has lost between 130,000 and 140,000 dead and seriously wounded since the start of the war.

“If now by the end of the year it is possible to recruit about 190,000 more people, then this will make it possible to make up for the losses, which means prolonging the war, but at the same time, this will give the Russian political leadership the opportunity not to announce mobilization, as was done in September last year. At this rate of recruitment, the status quo can be maintained, as it has been throughout this year,” Grosberg said.

The head of the intelligence center also gave an overview of the situation at the front, where Ukrainian troops managed to advance in some areas, and Russian troops managed to advance in some areas.
