Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have reached an agreement on 43.32 kilometers of their shared state border, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan announced.
During the period from October 3 to 8, a regular meeting took place in the city of Batken between the topographic working groups and the working groups on legal matters from the government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The purpose of the meeting was to continue the process of delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.
The topographic working groups reached an agreement on a segment of the border spanning 43.32 kilometers. Work will continue in order to demarcate the remaining sections during the next meeting, which is scheduled to take place on the territory of Tajikistan, the statement said.
A relevant protocol was signed following the meeting, and it was conducted in a friendly and mutually understanding atmosphere, the Cabinet said.
The total length of the state border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is approximately 972 kilometers.
