The State Civil Aviation Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic has successfully passed the audit of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), thereby confirming compliance with all international standards and requirements. Bakyt Torobaev spoke about this at the celebration of the 90th anniversary of civil aviation in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.
According to him, passing the audit will contribute to Kyrgyzstan’s exit from the European Union’s blacklist, from which our country has not been able to leave since 2006.
Torobaev noted that the state is taking serious and decisive steps to improve the infrastructure base of civil aviation and provide it with modern technologies, and shared the following data:
- A subsidiary airline, Asman Airlines, was created on the basis of Manas International Airport, which operates flights within the country and abroad. Also, Manas International Airport purchased two new modern aircraft (Bombardier Dash 8 Q400) using its own funds;
- at Batken International Airport, work on restoring the runway was completed in May 2023;
- at the international airport “Karakol” a new air terminal complex is being built, the artificial surface of the airfield elements is being reconstructed, lighting equipment is being installed and the runway is being extended;
- to restore the operation of the Kerben airport, the runway is being expanded and reconstructed;
- at the Talas airport, a new terminal building is being built and the artificial surface of the airfield elements is being reconstructed;
- at the Kazarman regional airport, repair and restoration work is underway on airfield elements;
- at the Naryn airport, the construction of a new terminal building and the reconstruction of the artificial surface of the airfield elements are being completed;
- began construction of a cargo terminal at Osh International Airport;
- Construction of a new air terminal complex has begun at the Issyk-Kul International Airport.
The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet also mentioned the opening of flights with South Korea, Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia and the creation of new routes to Xi’an, Ankara and Abu Dhabi.
