According to the Estonian Defense Forces, Russia is able to make up for its human losses in Ukraine through new recruitment, so it will be able to continue the war at the same pace for a long time. This was stated on Friday by the head of the intelligence center of the Defense Forces, Colonel Margo Grosberg. While Russia is not doing as well with reserves as Ukrainians, he said, it will be able to bring in about 190,000 additional troops as part of the recruitment announced on April 1 for the armed forces. The Russian leadership set itself the…

New medical centers will soon be launched in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, which will play a significant role in promoting the country’s health diplomacy, IRNA quoted IRCS official, Peyman Namdar, as saying. By setting up medical centers in Central Asia, the Iranian Red Crescent Society develops its humanitarian activities, he added. The Iranian Red Crescent Society manages several hospitals, polyclinics, as well as hemodialysis and rehabilitation centers in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, he highlighted. The centers are self-governed and their humanitarian activities are funded by receiving the costs of medical services from patients and collecting aid from philanthropists, he…
Russian officials are working to lure back the hundreds of thousands of citizens who moved abroad since the launch of the country’s military offensive against Ukraine — but have so far given them little, if any, incentive to go back. Between 700,000 and 1.5 million Russians are estimated to have left the country following the February 2022 offensive, either out of opposition to the war or fear of being sent to the frontlines. For the Kremlin, this mass exodus of predominantly young, educated workers — widely called relokanti (which translates to “those who’ve relocated”) — is a matter of urgency, as it exacerbates the…
Azhar Amanova, a pensioner living on the southern outskirts of the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, has had enough. For more than a week, her neighborhood of Archa Beshik had depended on modest rations of water distributed from a tanker once a day. It was enough to drink in small amounts and wash a few dishes, but not to bathe. On a visit to Amanova’s home on June 6, the temperature had reached nearly 36 degrees Celsius. Last week alone, Bishkek broke records on four straight days for its daytime highs since such temperatures were first recorded early in the previous century.…

Sure enough, Washington, London and Canberra have defied international opposition and announced recently the pathway to the AUKUS nuclear submarines pact. They have even coerced the IAEA Secretariat into endorsement on the safeguards issues. Such a lowlight of March, revealing the self-serving nature of politicians from the new three-way alliance, adds nuclear proliferation risk, undermines the international non-proliferation regime, fuels arms race and destroys peace and stability in Asia-Pacific, thereby setting a damaging precedent. Ever since the signing of AUKUS more than a year ago, the international community, especially countries from Asia-Pacific, have publicly and repeatedly expressed concerns, doubts and…
